Passkeys (WebAuthn)

Passkeys are a phishing-resistant alternative to passwords. They use your device's built-in authenticator (fingerprint sensor, Face ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware security key) to verify your identity — no password required.

Why use passkeys?

  • Phishing-resistant: Passkeys are cryptographically bound to the EU CAPTCHA domain and cannot be stolen or reused on a fake site.
  • No password to forget or leak: Credentials are stored in your device's hardware.
  • Fast login: A single touch or glance logs you in.

Registering a passkey

Account profile page showing Passkeys section

  1. Go to Account → Profile.
  2. In the Passkeys section you will see how many passkeys are currently registered.
  3. Click Create Passkey.
  4. Your browser prompts you to authenticate with your device (fingerprint, Face ID, PIN, or hardware security key).
  5. Complete the device authentication.
  6. A confirmation message appears: "Passkey registered successfully!"

You can register multiple passkeys — for example, one for your laptop and one for your phone.

Logging in with a passkey

  1. Go to the login page.
  2. Click Sign in with Passkey.
  3. Your browser prompts you to authenticate with your registered device.
  4. Complete the device authentication.
  5. You are logged in immediately. No password or 2FA code is required.

Managing passkeys

The Passkeys section in Account → Profile shows the number of passkeys registered on your account.

To remove all passkeys, click Delete Passkey(s). All registered passkeys are revoked immediately.

Keep at least one other login method active

If you remove all passkeys and forget your password, you may lose access to your account. Ensure you have a working password or social login before removing all passkeys.

Compatibility

Passkeys are supported in:

  • Chrome 108+
  • Firefox 122+
  • Safari 16+
  • Edge 108+

On mobile, passkeys work via Face ID (iOS), Touch ID (iOS/macOS), or Android biometric authentication. FIDO2 hardware security keys are also supported.

Troubleshooting

"This device does not support passkeys" — your browser or OS may be outdated. Update your browser, or try a different device.

Passkey not appearing during login — passkeys are device-specific unless synced. If you registered a passkey on your phone, it may not appear when logging in from your laptop unless synced via iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager.

Authentication was cancelled — you dismissed the browser prompt. Click Sign in with Passkey again to retry.
